Abastumani – Is one of the most famous mountain-balneological resorts in the country.
Abastumani is a moderately dry resort. Almost vertically sloping side-hills of the valley are covered with coniferous woods in which the pine dominates, which is a healing treatment for lung disease patients during the blossoming. The healing properties of Abastumani thermal waters are well known.

Historian, geographer and cartographer Vakhushti Bagrationi wrote that in the present Abastumani region, there was still a densely populated city in the XIV century “Odzrkhe” and there were celebrated healing waters. In the XVII century, at the time of Ottoman domination, here the Turkish style bath were decorating by ottomans. In the 30s of the XIX century it was possible to study scientifically the treatment ability of thermal waters. As a result, it has been called Abastumanis’ chloranthriumumflatcalcuminous hyperthermic healing waters and was used.
