For the first time in Georgia, the rarest cardiovascular surgery successfully performed by world-class Georgian surgeons!
On January 8, a 50-year-old male patient was taken to the ,,Open Heart’’ Cardiac Surgery Clinic where he underwent an urgent operation: Resection of aortic arch and descending aortic Dissected aneurysm Infected Endoprosthesis, and replacement with vascular prosthesis, with reimplantation of left subclavian artery.
In 2016, the patient underwent aortic arch and descending aortic Endoprosthetic procedure for aneurysm dissection. For the last 3 months, the patient has started a fever, has been on long-term antibiotic therapy. Clinical trials and CT angiography proved infection of endoprosthesis, which was an immediate indication for surgical intervention.
The operation was carried out by: Tornike Sologashvili, (Cardiac Surgeon, Head of direction of pediatric Cardiac Surgery – Clinic Open Heart, Tbilisi, Georgia; Head of Clinic in the Cardiovascular Surgery Department – Geneva University Hospitals, Geneva, Switzerland), Jumber Partsakhashvili (Vascular Surgeon, Clinic Open Heart, Tbilisi, Georgia; Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, Germany), Amiran Phrangishvili (Cardiac Surgeon – Clinic Open Heart, Tbilisi, Georgia)
Highly trained team of cardiac and vascular surgeons, anesthesiologists, reanimatologists and perfusionists were fully involved in the operation and postoperation follow-up.
Currently the patient is in stable condition and his postoperative treatment continues in the cardio-intensive ward.
