Patient: 62 years old male
2 years ago, one of the cardiac surgery clinics performed ascending aortic prosthesis on the patient because of dissection. After 2 years, the vessel prosthesis was infected and it became necessary to change it. Another cardio surgery was done: ascending aortic, aortic arch and partially descending aortic prosthesis. After this, more infections occurred, mediastinitis developed, torso phlegmon. For the purposes of cleaning the wounds and vacuum therapy, the patient was operated on and treated in a specialized clinic.
During one of these mentioned operations, when deep wounds were opened, magistral blood flow was developed from the ascending aorta. After that, our cardiac-surgical team was called on place.
Clinic “Open heart’s” cardiac-surgical team members assessed the patient’s situation on the spot, with the help of local surgical team and stabilized the patient, stopped the bleeding temporarily. With the assistance of “Open heart” cardio-surgical team members, the patient was transported to the clinic “Open heart”, where emergency cardio-surgical operation was performed. The punctured ascending aorta was restored. After the operation, the patient was provided full adequate medical assistance.
After making a recovery, the patient was cleared to go home under outpatient supervision. His health condition is satisfactory and he is back to his normal life regimen.
